What is Ethical Honey?
While a lot of honey sold in the Indian market is natural. It is not necessarily raw, and most importantly, not ethically harvested.
Honey, a natural elixir for humans, is actually a vital source of food for the resident bee colony. With a conscience, B.Barefoot leaves ample amount of honey in the hive to meet the nutritional needs of the residents. We are also conscious about avoiding establishment of apiaries near chemically sprayed crops. Lastly, our bees do not have to travel more than 4 kms round trip from hive to pollen grounds and back.
What type of honeybees do you work with?
While bees are a key-stone specie for bio-diversity, it is important to acknowledge that non-indigenous bee species can have an adverse effect on ecological balance of a region.
At B.Barefoot, we only work with indigenous bee-species, specifically Indica Cerana. Their resilience to local viruses and diseases, helps us mitigate risk of migration. In turn, our Madhu Mitras attain consistent growth in harvest due to the longevity of the established bee colonies.
What is Shade Grown Coffee?
Shade-grown coffee is actually coffee grown under the shade of other trees. Tree shade provides a host of benefits to our farmers, ranging from environmental to economic. Protecting the coffee plant from scorching sun, tree shade helps keep temperatures low and stable, maintain adequate level of humidity in the ground, prevent soil-erosion
during heavy downpours, fix nitrogen in the soil, and allow for bird colonies to prosper as natural pest control measures.
Further, coffee grown under tree shade takes longer to ripen, giving the cherries more time to mature and fully develop their complex flavors. Avoiding mono-culture practices, our farmers plant multiple crops like black-pepper, ginger, turmeric and cacao under the same shade of tress to maximize their income from secondary produce and to meet the nutrition needs of the soil that gift such bounties.
How do I replace, or get refunded for, delivery of a damaged and/or expired product?
All refund and replacement requests need to be placed within 4 days of purchase and/or delivery of product.
Please send us an email on email@example.com with photographs of the damaged product, along with the invoice number and your bank account details. We will investigate and validate your claim within 2 working days of receiving the request.
Following which, the amount will be refunded within 4 working days.
